ABSSAC has invested heavily in stock of both hubs and associated spiders of the industry standard Jaw shaft coupling to ensure fast delivery. The Jaw couplings are a low cost, no fuss shaft coupling. The jaw type shaft couplings are available in cast iron and aluminium. All hubs are stocked with bore and keyways to suit shaft sizes from 6mm to 60 mm or supplied pilot bored. Rated from 10Nm up to 665Nm they are a direct alternative to other industrial jaw couplings.
Competitively priced and available immediately from stock, the curved jaw coupling design consists of an elastic “spider” and two hubs. The spider is made of an advanced polyurethane material, providing dampening of impulse loads and minimising shock to the motor. The spiders also allow the user to customise the jaw coupling’s performance. Selecting a soft spider will give the jaw coupling the greatest dampening characteristics, while a hard spider will provide the greatest torque capacity.

The spider types (by size) are then matched to the following hub sizes. Each hub size is available in a range of pre-bored sizes. To make a complete shaft coupling you will require two hubs and one spider.
There are three standard spider materials offering different torque capabilities to choose from. All spiders have an open centre to allow minimum distance between shaft ends.
80 Sh-A Blue Spider – (4Nm to 1175 Nm) - The most elastic of our spiders. Offers the best dampening properties and durability. Suitable for applications with a lot of system resonance and impulse loads.
92 Sh-A Yellow/White Spider - (7.5Nm to 2400Nm) offers a good amount of dampening without sacrificing the torque rating significantly. Ideal for use in general engineering.
98 Sh-A Red Spider - (12.5Nm to 10000Nm) Offers a good balance between torque and dampening properties. This is a good middle ground that is suitable for many applications.
64 Sh-D Green Spider - (75Nm to 4500Nm) Offers very high torque capacity with minimal dampening. Suitable for high performance applications where misalignment and resonance is minimal.
